The last time I interviewed Mike was in April 2010, as Hyperlite Mountain Gear had just arrived on the doorstep of the Ultralight Cottage Gear maker scene. Two years on HMG has made it to the pages of several big outdoor magazines, has got high praise from Ryan Jordan at BackpackingLight.com, and has received lots of favourable reviews of their gear. Time to sit down once more and see how the company has developed.

Sometimes trips don’t go according to plan.

This book was a massive help in planning the Ultralight Summit in Slovenia, as it allowed me to make sense of the environment the event was going to take place in. For anyone planning a trip to Slovenia’s Julian Alps, I’d say that this book is required reading. For everyone else it’s a great inspiration to go and visit the Julian Alps. A book review.
