Can Finland’s largest outdoor shop Partioaitta produce a One Stop Shop ultralight outdoor gear list?
If you need to freshen up what this is all about, read the Introduction!
Partioaitta is Finland’s largest chain of outdoor stores, with locations from Helsinki till Saariselkä in Lapland. I asked my contact if they’d be up for the OSS challenge, and an hour later Timo, who works at the Iso Omena Store in Espoo, replied that he’ll have a list with me asap. Timo is one of the leading Finnish ultralight enthusiasts and has been propagating lightweight gear since a long time, so it was nice to see him work on this list. Here’s what he came up with:

Total Price: 2448,15 €
My thoughts on the list:
- Good choices for the backpack, sleeping bag and mat
- Again an Akto! A shame Timo didn’t pick something like the Vihe Loue which would have been nearly 400€ cheaper and almost 1 kilogram lighter
- Awesome to see that they suggest a woodstove! There’s hardly a better stove one could use in Finland, and the pot you can also use on its own at the fireplaces
- The LMF Spork in Ti is certainly more durable and cool, but a plastic one is cheaper and lighter
- Very nice choices for garments and footwear
- Overall a very good lightweight list, and if one would switch the Akto for a Loue it’d be very good, giving it a very distinct Finnish feel which would work very well here
The standing thus far:
Trekking-Lite-Store.com | 6157 g | 2.288,80 € | 0,47 € per gram |
CampSaver.com | 5316 g | 1.993,80 € | 0,52 € per gram |
Globetrotter | 8995 g | 3.272,20 € | 0,36 € per gram |
Partioaitta | 7354 g | 2448,15 € | 0,33 € per gram |
Next up is Bergfreunde. Can one of Germany’s best online shops beat the competition?
Disclaimer: The One Stop Shop Series was Carsten’s idea and he gave me permission to translate his posts to English and contact a few more shops around the world. If you can read German, you can head over to his blog and read already the first posts with the gear lists from Bergfreunde and Walkonthewildside.de.
